Solids Loading Characteristics of Stormwater Biomedia

Biomedia consisting of various organic and inorganic ingredients is essential to remove solids, nutrients, and metals, in addition to support viable plant growth. In response to growing interest in low-impact development, many studies of biomedia have focused on pollutant removal performance. However, fundamental questions remain about biomedia longevity and maintenance requirements. Results of a three-part investigation on biomedia loading and longevity are presented.
