Anna River Culvert Replacement Project: Sedimentation Control Using Polymer-Enhanced Best Management Practices

B33 Tuesday, August 20, 4:30 –5:00 p.m. / Grand Ballroom E

The Anna River project involved replacing a rusting metal culvert carrying a live salmon stream underneath a road that was the only access for homeowners in the area. To control erosion and sedimentation on this sensitive project, a treatment train was set up involving common sediment control BMPs as well as an anionic water-soluble polyacrylamide to deal with turbidity. A passive treatment system was used for the polymer, which had no adverse effect to salmon spawning in the stream.
