Post-Construction Regulatory Changes: What Are You Going to Do?

P22 Tuesday, August 20, 2:30 –3:00 p.m. / Rooms 202-204

Horry County is taking a proactive approach to evaluating its post-development stormwater program in anticipation of new federal and state requirements. County staff have been using the IDEAL model to evaluate submitted site designs that meet current post-construction standards. By determining how effectively the designs reduce various pollutants as well as discharge flow rates and volumes, the county can reevaluate to see how effective BMPs actually are on a quantitative basis. Results provide the county with a database of information on BMP effectiveness, cost, and practicality that will help enhance its post-construction regulatory program.
